The work in short
The search for authenticity is primarily what Claude is looking for. Having distanced himself from the presence of computer assisted drawing tools, he came back to basics: painting.
In his workshop set to the bare minimum, the artist puts his paintings in danger by deconstructing, reconstructing ,then transforming and recreating them incessantly until he reaches the utmost representation of an emotion in its most absolute and unaltered art form.
The boat is his recurring theme; it expresses transition but also abandonment, seclusion, this individual feeling specific to each of us. The apparent serenity conveyed by the boats is in contrast with the vibrant colors of the surrounding nature, thus, illustrating the inner chaos felt by all of us.
Claude Le Blanc is a graduate in Fine Arts from the Collège Vieux-Montréal. He exploited several techniques and opted for oil painting and the spatula. With the help of this tool, he scrapes quickly across the surface of the material creating a pattern of sound, almost music like. As the paint is absorbed, the porous nature of the material allows for beautiful textures to appear in the most unexpected manner.
