The work in short
Bright and bold best defines Danielle Lenteigne’s powerful paintings. Done in acrylics and the elaborate technique of encaustic, they combine geometric patterns with stylized everyday objects. An elongated, almost abstracted chair appears in the corner of one paintings, its long, dangling legs in harmony with a heavy grid of red stripes that forms the composition, while in another a vase with tulips sits like a cut-out in the middle of the canvas, framed into a static background.
Lanteigne’s works resemble hanging tapestries, rich in colour and form. But the deceptive simplicity of the shapes and composition hides a solid pictorial base which makes viewing her paintings a unique visual experience.
