The work in short
François Samson creates works in which the paint’s high reliefs and raw textures reveal unconventional techniques. Amongst them, the « Embedded” technique consist of pulling the canvas toward the inside of a fake frame and combining a diversity of thickening effects on the surface.
In this abstract universe, his lush and organic color palette calls back the light from the background and by the same token brings out figurative elements. The artist transposes his emotions in a formal language where matter, textures, shapes and colors are indissociable. The complex pictorial universe created by François Samson often relates to sculpture. His paintings are works of art of an unusual nature, overlapping several spheres.
Because of the very personal character of his works, François Samson has imposed himself in the world of visual arts. He has shown his work in several North American and European cities.
