The work in short
There's nothing intellectual about Pierre Patry's adventure in painting. He simply lives his art as if each day were his last. He attacks his canvases like a beast. His most recent works resonate with throbbing colours, a chromatic eruption where pure tones leap out with passion, if not violence.
The artist constructs his surfaces through the use of colour and form, structuring space into zones that give the whole a sense of rhythm. He does not seek to represent physical reality, but rather the relationship he maintains with it. His approach is an attempt to translate into visual terms the interrelation that exists between two distinct entities - reality and imagination - and thereby express both their differences and the qualities that unite them.
